Mark Diamond and Andy Weyl have played together since the eighties. Colorado Magazine Online caught one of their regular Sunday night jam sessions at the Boulder Outlook Hotel’s, Buffalo Bar & Grill and shot some video as a number of excellent musicians took the stage.

A talented and versatile musician, Mark Diamond is a New Jersey transplant. His signature sound is that of a hard-grooving acoustic bass. His experience spans many different musical styles. He has performed in Colorado since 1980 and has had stints as a sideman on over 100 albums with artists, such as Mary Ann Moore, Joe Bonner, Tim & Mollie O'Brien, and Keith Oxman. Mark has also performed on European tours and regularly plays clubs and festivals throughout the U.S. He has provided backup bass for up such legendary performers as Spike Robinson, Richie Cole, James Moody, Ernestine Anderson, Ben Sidran and Bruno Carr.

Born in Denmark, Andy developed his unique keyboard style, while traveling across Europe as a youth. After he moved to the U.S., he received studied music at the University of Colorado and earned a degree in piano performance in 1978. Following graduation, he toured the far east with the vocal group, Rare Silk. Andy has played and recorded with many top jazz musicians and he has performed at clubs and festivals across the nation and in Europe. He frequently provides keyboard backup for notable visiting musicians, such as James Moody, Tom Harrell, Benny Golson, Spike Robinson, Eddie Harris, Al Grey, and Bruce Foreman.

Mike Whited was on drums that night and what a terrific drummer he is!

John Zangrando, who splits his time between Boulder and Maui, weighed in with some very cool sounds on sax.

Upbeat vocals were supplied by jazz singer, Jack David.
