On a recent summer night in Niwot, Colorado, She Groovez, a seven-piece all-girls dance band formed in Denver in the fall of 2009, energized a crowd of a couple hundred fans at the weekly Rhythm on the Rails concert held in Niwot’s music park, alongside the railroad tracks, which parallel Colorado 119 between Boulder and Longmont.

When She Groovez comes on stage, they electrify the atmosphere with sounds of Motown rhythm and blues music and their fans can’t resist the urge to gyrate wildly to their rhythms.

She Groovez evolved out of several other female musician groups, including Jodie Woodard’s Female All Star Revue, which showcases female musicians in Colorado and other areas through her organization, Woodard Productions. (h

Members of the band include three lead singers - Evelyn G, Jackie O, and Crystal T, plus, Pam Rowen on keyboard and vocals and Eef on guitar and vocals. Jodie Woodward plays bass and Audree Dillard backs the group on drums and vocals.

Trained in New Orleans, Jodie has been playing bass for 25 years. Shas been on 14 European tours with artists, such as as Lazy Lester, Blue Sister, Zora Young, Randy McAllister, and Delores Scott. She is also a member of Boa and the Constrictors, which won the 2010 International Blues Competition.

Eef, who hails from Holland, has been playing guitar and singing for 20 years. She self-produced two CD’s, which have gotten airplay on Colorado stations and in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Argentina. She has toured the US and appeared on radio in Memphis.

Keyboardist and vocalist, Pam Rowen, began her musical careeer in Southern California playing jazz with various groups, including the 1999 grammy nominated, Lori Bell. After moving to Colorado, she played with various jazz, blues and big band groups, including Rockhouse recording artist, Tommy Thomas. In recent years, she has played with the Swingin' Seven Small Big Band, and her own jazz trio.

The band has performed at a number of venues in Colorado including Jazz at Jacks in Denver and Thunder & Buttons in Colorado Springs. Upcoming gigs scheduled include: The Summit, in Aurora on Sept 11; Jazz at Jacks on Oct 22, and a Halloween Party at the Boulder Outlook Hotel on Oct 31.
